  3. This document contains a description of DOCZ capabilities, 
  4. installation instructions, registration incentives, and
  5. a registration form.

  7. DOCZ is the programmer's code documentation tool.
  8.  
  9. DOCZ is a software development tool that automates the documentation
  10. of subroutine libraries and programs.  It allows for documentation
  11. information to be contained in the same file as the source code, to 
  12. be extracted for reference manuals and revision notices.  DOCZ also
  13. builds on-line documentation libraries, and program editors can be
  14. interfaced with DOCZ to extract function call prototypes from the 
  15. on-line libraries while editing.  The DOCZ on-line documentation
  16. library viewer can browse and search module documentation by name or
  17. description to make it easy to select modules for use in development.
  18.   
  19. DOCZ supports all computer languages, and DOCZ can use specific
  20. printer capabilities to enhance the look of the reference manuals. 
  21. DOCZ comes with a printer capability database for over 200 printers. 
  22.   
  23. DOCZ can automatically detect the presence of source code version
  24. control systems and can retrieve source files via that system.  
  25.   
  26. DOCZ allows the generation of a complete reference manual on demand,
  27. and an unlimited number of documentation libraries are supported. The
  28. posting of revision, change, introduction and fix notices can be
  29. completely automated using the native command language.

  31. DOCZ features both an on-line user manual and an on-line tutorial. 
  32. The printed user manual contains approximately 160 pages (8.5 x 11).

  34. DOCZ is the ideal tool for software developers to manage shareable
  35. software resources.  It is a tremendous aid in both the development
  36. and maintenance phases of software development in any size 
  37. environment.  It is unique in its capability as a multi-language
  38. development tool.

  41.                 DOCZ(tm) Shareware MSDOS INSTALLATION
  42.  
  43. Run the INSTALL program on the distribution media with the drive
  44. containing the distribution media as the default device.
  45.  
  46. INSTALL features extensive help messages that will guide you through
  47. the installation.  INSTALL will optionally edit your AUTOEXEC.BAT to
  48. declare the environment variables that DOCZ needs, or you can use the
  49. DOCZ_SYM.BAT command file deposited in the program directory during
  50. the installation.  INSTALL will build a sample documentation library
  51. containing six modules for a C function library, if you select that
  52. option during the installation.

  54. With the required environment variables defined (DOCSRC and DOCREF),
  55. the DOCMAN program can be used to view the on-line DOCZ
  56. documentation.  The user manual, DOCZ16.DOC, is placed in the DOCSRC
  57. directory by the installation program.  Another file in the DOCSRC
  58. directory, GETSTART.DOC, contains information on "Getting Started
  59. Quickly;" it contains the most basics steps to building documentation
  60. libraries.  Sample sources files will also have been deposited in the
  61. DOCSRC directory during the installation.

  63. The DOCLEARN program provides an on-line DOCZ tutorial, and DOCMAN
  64. provides an on-line user manual viewer.

  66. This shareware version of the DOCZ System is not limited or crippled
  67. in any way.  However, it may be not the latest version offered by 
  68. Software Toolz.

  70.                             Register DOCZ
  71.  
  72. DOCZ is a "shareware program" and is provided at no charge to the
  73. user for evaluation.  Feel free to share it with your friends, but
  74. please do not give it away altered or as part of another system.  The
  75. essence of "user-supported" software is to provide personal computer
  76. users with quality software without high prices, and yet to provide
  77. incentive for programmers to continue to develop new products.  If
  78. you find this program useful and find that you are using DOCZ and
  79. continue to use DOCZ after a reasonable trial period, you must make a
  80. registration payment to Software Toolz per the conditions on the
  81. order form below.  The registration fee will license one copy for use
  82. on any one computer at any one time.  You must treat this software
  83. just like a book.  An example is that this software may be used by
  84. any number of people and may be freely moved from one computer
  85. location to another, so long as there is no possibility of it being
  86. used at one location while it's being used at another.  Just as a
  87. book cannot be read by two different persons at the same time.

  89. Commercial users of DOCZ must register and pay for their copies of
  90. DOCZ within 30 days of first use or their license is withdrawn. 
  91. Site-License arrangements may be made by contacting Software Toolz.

  93. Anyone distributing DOCZ for any kind of remuneration must
  94. first contact Software Toolz at the address below for authorization.
  95. This authorization will be automatically granted to distributors
  96. recognized by the (ASP) as adhering to its guidelines for
  97. shareware distributors, and such distributors may begin offering
  98. DOCZ immediately (However Software Toolz must still be advised so
  99. that the distributor can be kept up-to-date with the latest
  100. version of DOCZ.).

  102. You are encouraged to pass a copy of DOCZ along to your
  103. friends for evaluation.  Please encourage them to register their
  104. copy if they find that they can use it.  All registered users
  105. will receive a copy of the latest version of the DOCZ
  106. system.

  108. Registration entitles you to unlimited 90 days of support via any
  109. of the following:

  118. Registered users will be supplied with the most recent updates, and
  119. can order bound and printed user manuals at a small additional cost.
  120. The user manual is 160 typeset printed pages, 8.5x11, 3-ring bound.

  124. enclosed order form.  You will find DOCZ to be an extraordinarily
